To improve access to critical information for prospective students and administrative colleagues, I redesigned the college’s website architecture and created a centralized FAQ and Resources Hub. The goal was to reduce confusion, minimize repetitive inquiries, and make it easier for both audiences to find answers and take action independently.

NC State University College of Design Graduate Student Resources
After having worked as the Graduate Student Coordinator for a year, I was well-versed in all of the resources and information available to students. I was able to write all of the content for each of the dropdown elements on this page.
Challenge
Student services staff and program leaders in the College of Design at NC State receive many emails daily from prospective and current students. Almost all of the answers to their questions can be found on the NC State website.
The existing website structure scattered important enrollment and policy information across multiple pages, creating barriers for users with different levels of familiarity. Prospective students struggled to locate accurate program details, while staff frequently fielded redundant questions.
Approach
I approached the redesign through a learning experience lens, treating the site as an informational learning environment rather than a static repository. My process included:
Conducting content and usability audits to map user journeys and identify friction points.
Collaborating with administrative stakeholders to clarify essential information and align tone across departments.
Reorganizing site architecture to reflect real-world decision-making processes of prospective students.
Designing an interactive FAQ and Resource Hub using principles of chunking, scaffolding, and self-directed learning to support different user pathways.
Outcome
The redesigned pages reduced redundant inquiries from prospective students and staff, improved navigation clarity, and created a consistent, easy-to-maintain information ecosystem. By applying learning design principles to content and structure, I transformed a transactional website into a self-guided learning experience that empowered users to find what they needed confidently and independently.
